NordicWeavers is Kurvemagerne’s school
Kurvemagerne is Denmark’s largest chair weaving workshop. The Skinbjerg family started out in Kongens Lyngby in 1946, and today three generations work in our workshops in Herlev, Helsinge, and Greve. Every year, we weave more than 2,500 chair seats—from family heirlooms to design classics.
NordicWeavers is for you if you’d rather do it yourself. These are the same techniques we use in the workshop every day, shown up close and explained step by step.

The family behind the courses
Kurvemagerne is run by the Skinbjerg family. Anna, Marie, and Jonas are the ones behind the course content—and the ones you’ll talk to if you choose the Masterclass. Marie, who teaches hand caning, has been weaving for more than 45 years.

When do I get access to the course?
A few minutes after you buy, you get an email with a link to your videos. That’s true day or night, weekends included.
Can I download the videos?
Yes. You can stream them online or download them to your phone, tablet, or computer and watch them offline. They’re yours forever.
What languages are the videos in?
We speak Danish in the videos. Every course has voiceover in English, German, Swedish, Norwegian, Spanish, and French—plus subtitles.
Do I need any experience?
No. The beginner courses start from scratch. Hand caning is more demanding, so we recommend trying one of the other techniques first.
What materials and tools do I need?
Each course comes with a list of materials and tools, so you can get everything before you begin.
What’s the difference between the Chair Bundle and the Masterclass?
The Chair Bundle gives you three courses: Danish cord, seagrass, and hand caning. The Masterclass gives you every course, all the courses and updates we make from now on, and a personal video call with one of us about your project.
Can I return a course?
The courses are digital content you get access to immediately, so they can’t be returned once you have access. If there’s a problem with your videos, write to us and we’ll find a solution.
Can I take a class in person?
Yes. A few times a year, we hold classes in our workshop in Herlev, near Copenhagen.
